A distinguished cardiologist and educator, Dr. Sanfilippo’s career spans decades of service in medicine and academia. He has held key roles in medical and educational leadership, adapting and advancing programs to meet the evolving needs of students, communities, and society. Dr. Sanfilippo has demonstrated a profound commitment to fostering excellence in medical education.
Dr. Sanfilippo is a recognized leader in medical education, having served as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) at Queen’s University for 15 years. During his tenure, he spearheaded transformative changes, including the development of a competency-based curriculum, innovative governance reforms, and initiatives that diversified and broadened access to medical education. His work positioned Queen’s as a leader in curricular innovation for undergraduate medical education across Canada.
