We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Tony Sanfilippo has joined the Fenix Alma Solutions Inc. Advisory Board, bringing his exceptional expertise and vision to our mission of transforming health sciences education.

A distinguished cardiologist and educator, Dr. Sanfilippo’s career spans decades of service in medicine and academia. He has held key roles in medical and educational leadership, adapting and advancing programs to meet the evolving needs of students, communities, and society. Dr. Sanfilippo has demonstrated a profound commitment to fostering excellence in medical education.

Dr. Sanfilippo is a recognized leader in medical education, having served as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) at Queen’s University for 15 years. During his tenure, he spearheaded transformative changes, including the development of a competency-based curriculum, innovative governance reforms, and initiatives that diversified and broadened access to medical education. His work positioned Queen’s as a leader in curricular innovation for undergraduate medical education across Canada.

In his role as Senior Advisor for Educational Expansion and Innovation at Queen’s Health Sciences, Dr. Sanfilippo led efforts development of a new integrated physician training programs to serve communities across Ontario.

More recently, he has authored The Doctors We Need: Imagining a New Path for Physician Recruitment, Training, and Support (Sutherland House Experts), which explores the causes of the current physician shortages in Canada and proposes innovative solutions.

These initiatives reflect his visionary approach to aligning education with societal needs—a perspective that will greatly enrich Fenix Alma Solutions Inc.’s mission.

His dedication has been recognized with over 20 awards, including the Queen’s University Distinguished Service Award. He has also been celebrated for his unwavering focus on student wellness and his role in developing partnerships that enhance the learning experience.
